Thomas Paine's pamphlet, "Common Sense" changed the way people viewed their king, as in how he was a tyrant. The other significant effects were: inspiring the people of the thirteen colonies to stand up for their independence, and to express "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness."
