What is the difference between an epidemic and a pandemic what factor makes pandemics more common?

The difference between the two is that an epidemic occurs when the out breaking disease affects a larger amount of people than usual. But a pandemic is over the whole country or world.

The factor that makes pandemics more common is because of the speed of availability of air travel.
